And you thought push was dead
Just as memories of Pointcast and push technology were beginning to fade, one group of analysts says push has a future.
The secret to successful push is treating the network with respect, and not going crazy with bandwidth requirements, says the Yankee Group.
In other words, polite push is the way forward.
The new generation of push technology optimizes network bandwidth and, as a result, does not impede current client operations. It also has an "escalation" feature that allows information to dynamically "find" the user by roaming from one device to the next until it reaches the intended recipient.
Since many companies are struggling with delivering the right information to the right people at the right time, the "polite" push is heading in the right direction.
