It's hard to say who started it, but there are clear signs of a new trend that could have the same snowball effect as weblogging.
There has been an increase in sites that move away from logging what's found and providing links, but instead act as a online diary for the author.
Hardly a new idea, perhaps, but I believe it has given some people new ideas and projects for the web, and may inspire as many people to do their own writing as the blogging craze did in the last 12 months.
